On July 2, 1944, the Lord began a good work in Columbia, Missouri. Reverends Charles and Mona Parker began old-fashioned tent revival meetings on Jefferson Junior High School grounds on Rogers Street. Services continued for ninety nights in a row, with a Kids Crusade at 6:30, and an evangelistic service at 7:30 each evening. With winter coming on, and World War II being waged, the church purchased a two and a half story house in which to hold services at the corner of Eighth and Alton Streets. The Parkers moved into a makeshift apartment upstairs. In September 1964 the twenty year old congregation moved into its present facilities at 1100 N Seventh Street. According to Mona Parker’s recollection, the first baby born into the new nursery, in October, was Tracy Cook. September 2002 marked another new beginning in the ongoing ministry of First Assembly of God, as Tracy Cook was elected as the sixth pastor in its nearly sixty year history at the time.“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1.6
